Fixagig The Relaunch
After listening to a lot of member feedback, Fixagig has had a major overhaul. Apart from a new look, the whole member admin section has been re-programmed and some extra features have been added.
So What's New
One of the most noticable things will be the profile listings. We have added thumbnails of profile pictures to the listings to make acts and venues easier to spot. We have also added the most recent gigs to the home page.
Registered members will notice that the admin control panel has been totally revamped, with only one login form, whether you are an act or a venue. Registered members can now set up 3 act profiles and 3 venue profiles each, since we found there were a lot of people that have several different acts and some venue owners also work in bands themselves.
The online booking system has been removed in favour of allowing acts and venues to display their full contact details on their profile pages. We found that while the internet can be a powerful tool, the majority still prefer to make bookings and inquiries via the telephone.
When logged in, members will be able to see the latest gigs and news posts of their favourite acts and venues. Becoming a 'fan' or 'regular' is as easy as clicking on a link in the relevant profile. When you have had enough of a venue or act, you can unsubscribe and you will stop recieving updates.
A new feature for members is the "Quickposts"! These are quite similar to facebook status updates but can be used for posting news to subscribers and to your profile page. You can allow all posts to be added to your profile so that fans can leave comments, like a guest book, or, you can only allow your own posts to be displayed and use it as a short blog or news feed.
You can now add multiple YouTube videos to your profile. Only the first few songs in your setlist will appear on your profile page with the option to view them all to keep the page neat and tidy.
We have added a flash media player for playing your mp3 demos. This allows a wider audience to hear your tracks and start playing them instantly. We have also increased the number of tracks to 3 per profile.
The gallery has had a major overhaul too. All images that are uploaded will be slightly larger and will have a nice, big, square thumbnail created.
We have added a "report member" link to each profile. We rely on you as a community to let us know if you find spam or anyone abusing the site. The cleaner the site is, the better it will be for everyone who uses it.
Venues can now have their own fixagig url, profile picture and gallery.
There are loads more changes and features to keep you all busy and we will be adding more features over the next few months depending on the feedback we receive. We hope to have some more themes to choose from along with some premium designs.
